My
name is Nikki, and I'm a fag hag with 24 ½ years of experience.
Just a typical day in the life of a fag hag. |
There
haven't been many periods in my life when I haven't had at least one
gay friend, and I started my faghagdom early – I found my first
GBF when I was two and a half years old. He used to come over and
play with my Barbie dolls, and I used to enjoy playing with his
Action Men. There's also an embarrassing series of photos of me
chasing him around the garden trying to kiss him. Sorry, CM.
Luckily,
I no longer make a habit of running around after gay boys for snogs;
I'm not one of those fag hags who is secretly in love with all of
their mates. I just happen to love dancing, glitter, drag queens and
musicals, which means that I naturally seem to gravitate towards gay
men.
I
am, however, more of a stereotypical gay man than most of my friends.
I had to introduce one friend to musicals (shocking!) and another
doesn't own a single item of sequinned clothing. I know – first
they mess up the weather, then they insist on being individuals. Cray
cray.
Anyway,
having recently moved to Manchester (and discovered my spiritual home
on Canal Street), I'm eager to discover all there is to know about
LGBT life in the city. Feel free to set me challenges, offer your
opinions on the best bars, pubs and clubs, or just say hello!
Have a gay day!
Nikki
